On Sunday, December 28, 2014 I race walked the Jacksonville Bank Half Marathon in Jacksonville, Florida. The temperature varied from 63 to 70 degrees with calm wind and a mixture of sunny skies and fog which made it very humid. The course is almost completely flat with no hills. Most of the roadways were closed to traffic or had dedicated lanes for the runners; however, there were a few places where people living along the course needed to drive to or from their houses. The few I noticed drove very slowly and watched out for the runners. Police officers were stationed at every intersection and patrolled the course to ensure the safety of everybody. Water/Gatorade stations were located every 1.5 to 2 miles and were manned by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. There were only a few spectators spaced out along the route. The event was very well organized as usual. I have done this event many times and have always enjoyed the experience.
