A new season of race walking begins. The training began in earnest in June. Monday through Friday sees 5 miles of practice each day. Saturday and Sunday sees one practice of 10 miles and the other beginning at 13 miles for 3 weeks, increasing by 3 miles each 3 weeks, until it has reached the present level of 27 miles.
In the past I have race walked 41 marathons (26 miles 385 yards) beginning in January of 2001. My goal is to reach a marathon in each state and the District of Columbia. I have already done 12 states and the District of Columbia.
Today I travel to Rapid City, South Dakota to walk the Mount Rushmore Marathon.
