Quad Cities Marathon
Moline, Illinois
Sunday, September 23, 2007
On Sunday, September 23, 2007 I race walked the Quad Cities Marathon in Moline, Illinois. It was a most enjoyable, well organized race that began in Moline, Illinois, crossed the Mississippi River into Iowa, re-crossed the Mississippi River on to the Rock Island Arsenal, and finished back in Moline. The weather was sunny and the wind was almost calm. The temperature was 50 degrees at the 7:30 start and climbed to a record tying 90 degrees by mid-afternoon, making the temperature in the low 80’s by the time I finished just after 12:30. There were plenty of volunteers, water stations, and police traffic control. There was entertainment almost every mile. It was a nice race that had 400+ finishers. I enjoyed the race even though it was a little hot the last 6 miles.
Pictures that I took while there will appear in later postings.
