Florida Marathon
Clermont, Florida
Saturday, December 27, 2008

The Florida Marathon was held at the National Training Center in Clermont, Florida on Saturday, December 27, 2008. Unlike most Florida marathons, this marathon is very hilly with some of the hills being very challenging. The race stated at 8:00 AM and the temperature was already in the upper 60’s. The sun was shining and there was a gentle breeze. By the time I finished the temperature reach 80. Needless-to-say it was hot. The race was small about 90 in the marathon. It was extremely well organized. Most of the course was on bike trails. Water/Gatorade stations were located every 1.5 to 2 miles and were maintained by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. Police were stationed at the five places where roads needed to be crossed. The bike trail was opened to bicycles and there were plenty. Most of the bikers cooperated extremely well, but a few did not like sharing the trail. There were almost no spectators. The event was an interesting challenge.
