Cowtown Half Marathon
Fort Worth, Texas
Saturday, February 27, 2010
When I left the motel to go to the Cowtown Half Marathon in Fort Worth, Texas on Saturday, February 27, 2010, I had to scrape the ice off the windows of the car. The skies were clear and there was a small breeze. The course had many up and down sections which were not very steep. Traffic was controlled by police at almost every intersection. The roadway had many potholes and cracks as well as about two miles of brick pavement. It was important to watch your footing. Water/Powerade stations were located every 1.5 miles and were manned by enthusiastic volunteers; however, there were not enough volunteers to keep up with the size of the field. Most stations were out of Powerade by the time I arrived and there was a large amount of participants behind me. I think this event has probably reached its capacity or more. During the race the temperature gradually climbed from near 32 degree to around 50 degrees. I enjoyed myself as usual.
