Hartford Half Marathon
Hartford, Connecticut
Saturday, October 9, 2010

I race walked the Hartford Half Marathon in Hartford, Connecticut on Saturday, October 9, 2010. The temperature at the start was near 50 degrees and climbed into the 60's by the end of the race. There was a small breeze and sunny skies and the trees were beginning to display their beautiful fall colors. The course was on paved roads that were completely closed to traffic. Police officers annd other volunteers were located at every intersection to ensure the safety of the participants. There were almost no flat sections on the course; however, there were no long or challenging hills either. Water/Gatorade stations were located approximately every mile beginning at mile 2 and were manned by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. Spectators were numerous along the route and there were several places where music was provided. The event was well organized and I enjoyed myself completely.
