Half Marathon of the Palm Beaches
West Palm Beach, Florida
Sunday, December 02, 2012
On Sunday, December 02, 2012 I race walked the Half Marathon of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was a warm day with the temperatures fluctuating from 68 to 74 degrees with mostly sunny skies and a strong gust 15 to 20 mph wind from the East. The course was completely flat with two out and back sections that were completely closed to traffic and intersections were controlled by police and firemen. Water/Gatorade stations were located every mile and were manned by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. There were some spectators spread out along the course who cheered enthusiastically. The event was very well organized as the new race director corrected the major problems that occurred last year with the water/Gatorade stations. The event has been held the last 9 years and I completed the full marathon the first five years and the half marathon the last four years. I enjoyed myself.
