Miami Half Marathon
Miami, Florida
Sunday. January 25, 2015
On Sunday, January 25, 2015 I race walked the Miami Half Marathon in Miami, Florida. It was an Ideal day for me as the temperature varied from 53 to 60 degrees with clear skies, and a breeze of about 10 mph. The mostly flat loop course started in front of American Airlines Arena in Miami, used the Mac Arthur Causeway to go to Miami Beach, went along South Beach, went back to Miami, and finished 3 blocks south of the Arena. All roads were completely closed to traffic and had police and workers stationed at every intersection to ensure the safety of the estimated 23000 participants in the Marathon and Half Marathon. Water/Gatorade stations were located every mile and had plenty of enthusiastic, efficient volunteers to take care of the needs of the participants. The event has been held for 13 consecutive years and I have completed the marathon in the first 7 years and the half marathon in the other 6 years. The event has always been very well organized and fun to do. This half marathon was the 70th half marathon I have completed since having my left knee replaced on February 20, 2012 and was my fastest half marathon since August 4, 2013 which was 46 half marathons ago.
