Jacksonville Half Marathon
Jacksonville, Florida
Sunday, December 18, 2016
On Sunday, December 18, 2016 I race walked the
Jacksonville Half Marathon in Jacksonville, Florida. The event had a 5K, a half marathon, and a
full marathon with a total of approximately 2100 entries. The course was relatively flat with only
slight changes of altitude and utilized dedicated lanes on the suburban roads
with many policer officers completely controlling the traffic and ensuring that
the participants and traffic remain separated.
The temperature remained in the low to middle 70s with no wind and fog
which meant the humidity was about 100% and causing it to be somewhat
warm. Water/Gatorade stations were
located every 1.5 miles and had plenty of volunteers taking care of the needs
of the participants. The event was well
organized as usual and fun to do. I have
done the event 12 years and have completed 6 marathons and 6 half marathons.
