Fargo Half Marathon
Fargo, North Dakota
Saturday, May 20, 2017
Saturday, May 20, 2017 was a good day to do the Fargo
Half Marathon in Fargo, North Dakota as the temperature varied from 45 to 50
degrees with a light breeze and overcast skies which held off raining until
after the event. The course began and
ended inside the Fargodome and utilized city streets which were completely
closed to traffic and almost flat with a few slight up and downs. Many volunteers and a few police controlled
the numerous intersections to insure that the participants were safe and the
event could go on smoothly. There were
approximately 7000 entries in the half marathon as well as 2000 in the full
marathon and 5000 in the 10K. A 5K was
held on Friday and a kids run of over 2000 kids was held on Thursday. Water/Powerade stations were located
approximately every 1.5 miles and had plenty of friendly efficient volunteers
as well as tables on both sides of the roads to take care of the needs of the
participants. The event is in its 13th
years and this is the fourth time that I have completed the half marathon which
has always been well organized and fun to do.
