Steamboat Springs Half Marathon
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Sunday, June 3, 2018
On Sunday, June 3, 2018 I completed the Steamboat
Springs Half Marathon in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The temperature was 39 degrees at the start
of the race and 65 degrees when I finished with sunny skies and no breeze. The
course was point-to-point on paved roads with a dedicated lane for the
participants. The start was at about
7300 feet of elevation and the finish was in downtown Steamboat Springs at
about 6700 feet of elevation. Even
though there was a loss of about 600 feet in elevations, the course had much
uphill sections making the journey somewhat challenging. The first three Powerade/water stations were
located about 3 miles apart and the last two were about 1.5 miles apart. All stations had plenty of friendly,
efficient volunteers taking care of the needs of the approximately 1000
participants in the half marathon and full marathon. This was the third time that I completed this
half marathon which has always been well organized and fun to do. I even
managed to place second in my Male 70 & over Running Age Group.
