Steamboat Springs Half Marathon
Steamboat Springs, Colorado
Sunday, June 2, 2019
On Sunday, June 2, 2019 I race walked the Steamboat
Springs Half Marathon in Steamboat Springs, Colorado. The temperature varied from 44 to 70 degrees
with sunny skies and no breeze. The
course is mainly a downhill point to point journey that had a dedicated lane
for the participants on paved rural and city streets. The start was at an altitude of about 7100
feet above sea level and a finish altitude of about 6600 feet in front of the
Steamboat Springs Courthouse. There were
some up-hills interspersed on the route.
Volunteers and a few police controlled cross traffic at the places where
it might have occurred. Except in
Steamboat Springs there was only a little traffic. Water/Electrolyte stations were locate from
2.5 to 4 miles apart and were manned by plenty of friendly volunteers taking
care of the needs of the participants.
The electrolyte drink was a brand I never heard of that did not
replenish as Gatorade or Powerade. This
is the fifth time that I have finished this event. I have enjoy myself each time.
