Green Lake Half Marathon

On Sunday, September 1, 2019 I race walked the Green Lake Half Marathon in Green Lake, Wisconsin.  The temperature varied from 53 to 60 degrees with mostly cloudy skies and little wind.  The course was on paved roads that were not closed to traffic.  Participants were expected to travel on the side of the road facing traffic.  About 3 miles of the roads that were in the city had part of the lane coned off to separate the participants and the traffic.  About four miles of the roads were so poorly maintained that it was more of a trail than a road.  Traffic was fairly sparse and watched out for the nearly 135 participants.  Water/Gatorade stations were located every 2 miles and had plenty of friendly efficient volunteers taking care of the needs of the participants.  The event was organized but not quite as well most events of this size.  This is the second time that I have completed this event.
