Crawling Crab Half Marathon

Hampton, Virginia

Sunday, October 6, 2019

Sunday, October 6, 2019 was a nice day to do the Crawling Crab Half Marathon in Hampton, Virginia as the temperature varied from 70 to 74 degrees with cloudy skies and a 5-10 mph breeze.  The course was almost completely flat on city roads that were completely closed to traffic.  All intersection were controlled by friendly police and volunteers that kept the 1290 finishers safe.  Water/Gatorade stations were located approximately every 2 miles and had plenty of mostly high school volunteers that took care of the needs of the participants.  A few spectators were along the route cheering and encouraging everyone.  There were also several cheer sections consisting mostly of students from various schools from the city of Hampton as well as music, both recorded and live, played a many locations along the course.  This is the second consecutive year that I have completed the Crawling Crab Half Marathon which has been very well organized and fun and having a very nice after party.  The race directors, Jerry and Amy Frostick, known as J&A Racing, put on a series of 6 to 10 races yearly in the area, including the Shamrock Marathon in Virginia Beach and have a reputation of putting on first class fun events.
