Marathon of the Palm Beaches

December 7, 2008 was a wonderful day to race walk The Marathon of the Palm Beaches in West Palm Beach, Florida. The race started in the dark at 6 AM with a 62 degree temperature and a cool breeze. By the time I finished the temperature had risen to 72 degrees and the sun was shining and the cool breeze remained. The entire route, which remained almost flat, was closed to traffic and water/Gatorade stations were located approximately every 1.5 miles and manned by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. The fifth year race was extremely well organized and very enjoyable. They had a special medal for everyone who had run all five years and since I have completed the marathon all five years, I received one. It was a very enjoyable event that I intended to continue doing in the future.
