Rock the Parkway Half Marathon
Kansas City, Missouri
Saturday, April 11, 2015
On Saturday, April 11, 2015 I race walked the Rock the Parkway Half Marathon in Kansas City, Missouri. It was a wonderful day for the event as the temperature started at 50 degrees and reach 61 degrees with mostly sunny skies and a 5-10 mph breeze. The mostly out and back course through neighborhoods that featured a large number of multimillion dollar mansions was on city roads that were completely closed to traffic and had plenty of police and volunteers at the intersections to control cross traffic and let vehicles cross as space between participants allowed. Water/Gatorade stations were located every 2 miles and had tables on both sides of the road which were manned by plenty of enthusiastic volunteers. Spectators were located throughout the course and cheered enthusiastically. The event was very well organized and had approximately 5000 participants in the half marathon. I enjoyed doing this event.
