Palm Beaches Half Marathon
West Palm Beach, Florida
Sunday, December 2, 2018
On Sunday, December 2, 2018 I completed the Palm
Beaches Half Marathon in West Palm Beach, Florida. It was a little warm as the temperature
varied from 75 to 82 degrees wind sunny skies and little wind. The course is relatively flat on city roads
with no ups or downs of any consequence.
The roads were closed to traffic and police and volunteers controlled
intersections. Water/Gatorade stations
were located every 1 to 1.5 miles and were manned by plenty of friendly
efficient volunteers taking care of the needs of the 772 finishers in the half
marathon and 274 finishers in the full marathon. This is the second year for this event and my
first time doing it. There previously
was a Marathon and Half Marathon of the Palm Beaches that lasted 15 years (I
completed that event all 15 years) and went out of existence after 2014 because
of organization and permitting problems especially because of disruption of
traffic. I not sure that the new event
did any better with traffic than the old event.
