Cocoa Beach Half Marathon
Cocoa Beach, Florida
Sunday, October 20, 2019
Sunday, October 20, 2019 was a somewhat hot day to do the Cocoa Beach Half Marathon in Cocoa Beach, Florida as the temperature varied from 79 to 86 degrees with mostly sunny skies and a breeze of 5-10 mph. The course was completely closed to traffic and utilized 10 miles of city streets and 3 miles on the sandy beach which occurred at a favorable tide and made the footing reasonable. There were no hills. Cocoa Beach Police and city employees as well as MPs from Patrick Air Force Base Kept the participants and traffic separated. Water/Gatorade stations were located every 1.75 to 2 miles and had plenty of friendly efficient volunteers taking care of the needs of the approximately 500 participants in the half marathon. The event is in its fifth year and is a I Dream Of Jeanie themed event with Ron Jon and Publix as main cosponsors. This is the fourth year that I have done this well-organized fun event.
