Spring Hill Half Marathon
Spring Hill, Florida
Sunday, January 3, 2021
On Sunday, January 3, 2021 I completed the Spring Hill
Half Marathon in Spring Hill, Florida.
The temperature remained a constant 65 degrees with little breeze. It drizzled for the first half hour and
remained overcast for the rest of the race.
The course is relatively flat completely on a bike path in an out and
back arrangement. There were four
different races 5K, 10k, Half Marathon and Full Marathon having a total of
about 150 people. The race was organized
to protect the participants from the Corona Virus 19. Mask were worn by everyone for the packet
pick-up, pre-race and post-race. Social
distancing was emphasized throughout the event.
Mask were not required during the race but the small number of participants
easily kept everyone a large distance from everyone else. I felt extremely safe the entire time. Water stations were located every 3 miles and
utilized 8 ounce water bottles and 10 ounce Gatorade bottles that were set on
tables and the participants picked up as they went by; however, there were not
enough bottles for everyone, so me and the participants behind me often did not
have anything to grab at most of the stations.
I was only able to grab 3 bottles of water and no bottles of Gatorade. As far as I am concerned that is unforgivable. I was first in my age group.
